A possibility to run PCIScope under a non-administrative user account was added (Windows NT4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003). When PCIScope cannot start the driver, it works as a viewer of .BPD files. After an additional setup PCIScope can start the driver and access a hardware under any user account (see the help topic "How to enable PCIScope to access hardware under a non-administrative user account".
Information about installed Win32 services and kernel-mode drivers is collected now. The services object is located in the System tree. The Service Properties dialog shows detailed information about each service or driver.

A hang under Windows 2000 Server was fixed.
Detection of phantom devices was corrected.
Several minor bugs were fixed.

Complete support for IEEE 1394 (FireWire) OHCI and USB 2.0 EHCI host controllers. Now PCIScope reads and interprets all PCI and memory registers of these controllers according to specifications.
Parts from "1394 Open Host Controller Interface Specification" and "EHCI Specification for Universal Serial Bus" were added to program's help.
A list of significant changes was implemented in PCIScope's DOS agent (PCITOOL.EXE):
1. Reading of USB 2.0 EHCI and 1394 (FireWire) OHCI registers
2. Producing a binary file in format compatible with PCIScope (a .BPD file)
3. A possibility to read/write any PCI registers using a command file
Each tab that displays I/O or memory registers in the right panel now has a tooltip, which shows brief information about the registers (BAR, offset, etc).
A bug with displaying registers by Byte/Word/Dword in right panel was fixed.
A database of PCI Vendors and Devices was updated.

Support for 12-characters serial number was added.
Resource Summary now displays resources from 4 sources:
PCI hardware, ISA PnP hardware, Device Manager and Plug-n-Play Arbiters.
A possibility to hide duplications in Resource Summary was implemented. Just right click on Resource Summary entries in System tree in order to call a context menu and select "Hide Duplications" command.
A database of PCI Vendors and Devices was updated.
A bug under Windows XP has been fixed: the detection stage never ended if several users were logged on.

A bug in Interrupt Watch was fixed, which caused a hang on some Compaq notebooks.

Support for Windows Server 2003 was added.
Support for PAE (Physical Address Extension) was implemented. PAE mode is used by Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 in order to support more then 4GB of physical memory.
System Event Log: Now PCIScope collects events from the System Event Log for last 10 days. All events are immediately decoded, which means that PCIScope's Event Log can be viewed on any machine, not only the machine where it was saved.
A database of PCI Vendors and Devices was updated.
Sorting resources in Device Manager view: "Sort resources" checkbox was added to the context menu to display resources of device node either sorted or unsorted.

"Tip of the day"was added.
Detection of ISA PnP information was added; results are displayed in a separate PnP tree.
A Bus Topology diagram was fully redesigned. Now it displays a lot of additional information for bridges: PCI balancing errors, bus/subordinate bus, ISA enable/VGA enable bits, etc.
An IRQ Routing diagram was fully redesigned. Now is based on information from all available sources: MP configuration table, I/O APIC registers, PCI BIOS.
An algorithm used by Configuration Comparison tool was fully redesigned in order to fix all known problems.
A Resource Summary was created, which shows hardware resources retrieved by PCIScope from PCI devices and ISA PnP device nodes.
A possibility to refresh Device Manager tree on individual tree level from a context menu was implemented. Now every device in a Device Manager tree has 'Refresh' and 'Refresh Subtree' commands in its context menu.
A 'Compare' command was added to PCI device's context menu. This makes possible to quickly compare a current device with another device.
A support for Server Works chipsets was enhanced. For example, now PCIScope detects empty PCI buses on Server Works platforms.
Decoding of known PNP Arbitrator's flags was done in Device Manager view.
A separate 'System Information' tree was created, which contains different system data and tables.
An /SD command line parameter was added to PCIScope. When started with /SD, PCIScope doesn't perform a hardware detection on startup.
Now commands 'Import/Export PCI Registers Dump' are able to import/export I/O and memory-mapped registers, for example CardBus registers, ExCA registers, UHCI registers, etc.
PCIScope's DOS agent (PCITOOL.EXE) now dumps CardBus and ExCA registers for all CardBus adapters in format, which can be imported into PCIScope. Now /DA command dumps both PCI configuration space and CardBus/ExCA registers. The /FM[:address] command can be used to override default memory window, which is used to access CardBus and ExCA registers.
PCIScope's DOS agent (PCITOOL.EXE) now displays size of BAR registers on /DC command.
Implemented limitations in Evaluation Version:
- A registration reminder dialog appears regularly.
- Information about some PCI devices, system tables and Device Manager devices is disabled.
- PCIScope's Interrupt Watch is able to catch only a limited number of interrupts.
Program's help was updated according to PCI-to-PCI bridge specification v 1.2.
A lot of user interface enhancements were done: status bar information was made consistent; appearance of Advanced Edit dialog was enhanced, etc.
Disappearing of caret in Debugger window was fixed.
A GPF with Matrox Millennium PCI MGA-2064W card was fixed.
Fixed problem with reading I/O and memory-mapped registers (like ExCA registers, Option ROM, etc) from PCI device when it is in low power state (not D0).
Several bugs in Interrupt Watch were fixed concerning detection of interrupt vector and IRQ on uniprocessor machines and multiprocessor machines with multiple APICs.
Corrected displaying of PCI registers in 'by Bytes', 'by Word' and 'by DWord' modes.
A text color of Information TAB, PCI Registers Form and Interrupt Statistics window was fixed for non-standard color schemes.

A conflict with Autoshutdown service on DELL multiprocessor machines was fixed.

A bug with reading PnP arbiters information was fixed. That bug caused a blue screen or system reboot on some systems during the detection phase.
A bug with comparison of PCI devices with different registers sets was fixed.
PCIScope's versioning information was added to .BPD file. That information includes PCIScope's version, release date, serial number and installation directory.
Drivers Stack tab in Device Manager view was corrected. An algorithm of recognition of device type (FDO, PDO, Filter DO) was improved.
Menus and toolbars were disabled when the evaluation countdown dialog is active.
Information about PnP arbiters was split into several tabs: each tab for each type of arbiter.
Context menu commands 'Show Registers By...' and 'Show Registers As...' in PCI registers tab were fixed.
A detection progress message was redesigned.
A Technical Support WEB page was added. References to this page and a Troubleshooting page were added to the program's Help menu.
More help for PnP arbiters was added.

PCIScope DOS agent (PCITOOL.EXE) was added to the installation. It allows reading PCI configuration space under clear DOS or Windows 9x DOS. It also allows saving PCI configuration spaces of all devices into a file, which can be imported into PCIScope.
A problem with loading PCIScope's driver under Windows NT 4.0 was fixed.
Appearance of PCIScope's docking windows was improved.
Several minor modifications and bug fixes were done.

Display of PnP driver stack was added: all drivers involved in processing, including all filters.
Interrupt Watch was ported on Windows 95/98/ME.
A colored Power State indicator was added into status line in order to show power state (D0/D1/D2/D3) of selected PCI device.
Configuration Comparison feature was improved. Now you are able to compare any two devices from the same or from different configurations.
A possibility to import/export text dump of PCI configuration space was added. It allows to exchange PCI configuration space information with other programs.
A decoding of ExCA registers was added as a separate page.
A possibility to distinguish PCI devices by Revision Id was added. Now PCIScope is able to show different device names and load different set of registers' descriptions for devices with different Revision Id.
Hot-Plug PCI and PCI-X support was implemented: SHPC capabilities list item and PCI-X capabilities list item are decoded now.
A location of a PCI device is displayed now (motherboard, PCI Slot 0, PCI Slot 1, etc).

Interrupt watch module was implemented. Now you can spy PCI and non-PCI interrupts, view detailed interrupt information and statistics. This facility was designed to support both uniprocessor and multiprocessor platforms.
Memory read/write commands in built-in debugger were modified to use byte/word/dword writes according to a modifier. For example POKED will use dword writes, while POKEW will use word writes. This was done to generate proper PCI read/write cycles when the target memory is physically located on a PCI device.
Detailed I/O APIC information was added.
Help system was updated with information from Mini PCI, PCI Hot-Plug and PCI-X specifications.

A PCI subsystem balance test was totally redesigned. This test can be called from menu "Tools | Check PCI Subsystem".

Added scripting support. Now you can use any scripting language (for example VBScript or JScript) to read or modify PCI configuration space, I/O registers and system memory. Added automatic PCI error detection that will watch such PCI errors as Master Abort, Target Abort, etc. Additionally an error semaphore is displayed in status bar and shows if any PCI errors occurred.

PCIScope description language was updated with ability to interpret I/O and memory registers. Now PCIScope handles I/O and Memory-mapped registers of PCI device in the same way as PCI configuration registers. PCIScope can fully decode those registers, read, write, refresh, watch, compare and save to file.
Using a PCIScope description language you can add a description of I/O and memory-mapped registers for any device. Currently the following I/O and memory registers are already added: CardBus/ExCA registers for CardBus controllers, UHCI and OHCI registers for USB controllers.
